Product update for August 2024

This is Bunny’s product update for August 2024.

New customer portal design

By far the biggest update this time is the new admin user interface and we love it! Instead of a navigation bar at the top of the page, the navigation is now a sidebar with a sub panel, which makes accessing and browsing your data much easier. Forms now have more white space, are divided into sections and generally make the user interface easier to work with.

New UI - account page

Ramp deals

Everyone expects large customers to get volume discounts. But how do you handle fast-growing customers who have lofty growth projections and negotiate based on them? Ramp deals are a practical way of providing a customer with a volume discount based on projected future growth, with planned quantity increases along the way. This model helps both the buyer and the seller. The customer gets a great discount without having to purchase more users than they need today and you are guaranteed a certain volume of sale even if the customer does not meet those numbers.

Ramp deal UI

Bunny now allows you to create ramp deals in seconds, both for new accounts or ones that have hit a growth inflection point.

Usage-based improvements

We have introduced a number of important improvements to usage-based subscriptions. Usage for the current and previous periods are now viewed as a chart in both the account view in the admin UI as well as in the customer portal. When clicking on a bar in the chart, the user can also see the usage that was reported on individual days in the period.

Additionally, plans that have tiered or volume priced charges can now be edited directly on the quote, which allows you to modify both tier sizes and prices for custom pricing.

Lastly, you can now search and filter usage record as well as manually create and edit them via the admin UI for testing and correcting errors.

SimpleTax

Bunny integrates with Avalara AvaTax for sales tax and VAT calculation in the United States and internationally. Especially for European startups, the need for Avalara usually comes at a later point, so we added out-of-the-box VAT calculation for European countries, available at no charge.

Backdated deals

There are situations where you want to be able to create a subscription that starts in the past. This comes in handy when migration subscriptions from other systems as well as when you need to correct mistakes.

Migration mode

Bunny is ideal for SaaS companies that start with no customers, because they can launch the same day. But more established SaaS companies love Bunny too and we have been migrating subscriptions from Stripe and other billing solutions recently. This has led to the introduction of migration mode, which makes it easier to get your account set up before you are ready to press the big Go Live button.

Outbox

Nowadays, most invoices are sent via email. Unfortunately, there is also more than ever and sometimes emails get flagged incorrectly or for some other reason can’t be delivered. Bunny now has an Outbox where the status of all sent emails can be viewed. This seems like a small improvement, but being able to troubleshoot email delivery without having to involve your IT department makes your more efficient.
