The best Recurly alternatives for B2B SaaS going sales-led
The right Recurly alternative depends on why you’re leaving. If your deals have moved from self-serve checkout to negotiated contracts with quotes, approvals and multi-year terms, you want quoting and billing on one record — that is Bunny, with Chargebee, Maxio and Zuora as the other options. Bunny is SaaS billing, CPQ and RevOps software for B2B SaaS. Here’s how all seven compare.
When does a Recurly alternative make sense?
Recurly is excellent at what it was built for: high-volume subscriptions, payment recovery, dunning and churn. The search for an alternative usually starts the day a sales team arrives.
Your deals now start with a quote
Recurly doesn’t market native quoting. Its Salesforce integration takes quotes built in Salesforce CPQ and creates the subscription when the opportunity closes — and Salesforce CPQ has been end-of-sale since March 2025. That’s two systems to keep in step, one of them in maintenance mode.
Discounts need approval and contracts need signatures
Recurly has ramp pricing, which covers introductory rates and graduated commitments. What a deal desk also needs — approval routing on discounts, e-signature, a quote document the customer actually signs — sits outside Recurly.
Renewals are negotiated, not automatic
In B2B SaaS most quoting volume is renewals and mid-term upsells. To price them, the quote has to see the live subscription: what the customer has, what they’ve paid for, what changes. That’s hard when quoting and billing are different products.
Finance wants contract-level revenue recognition
Recurly RevRec is a capable ASC 606 / IFRS 15 product, sold separately from $850 a month. Negotiated ramps and amendments still have to reach it intact from wherever the quote was built.

Which Recurly alternative fits your motion?
Each one is genuinely best at something. Here's what, and where each hands off to another system.
-
1. Bunny
This is usSaaS billing, CPQ and RevOps for B2B SaaS
Best for: B2B SaaS moving from self-serve to sales-assisted deals that need quotes, approvals, contracts and renewals on the same record as billing.
Where it stops: If you sell only self-serve plans at list price and never negotiate, Bunny's CPQ is more than you need. And it doesn't model bills of materials or configured physical products.
Bunny vs Recurly, head to head -
2. Chargebee
Subscription billing suite with native CPQ
Best for: Teams that want broad coverage from one vendor, from self-service at volume to sales-led deals.
Worth knowing: It's a suite, so price the combination you actually need. Bring a real multi-year amendment to the demo and follow it through to the revenue schedule.
Chargebee alternatives -
3. Maxio
Billing and finance ops (formerly Chargify and SaaSOptics)
Best for: Finance-led SaaS teams that want billing, revenue recognition and SaaS metrics from one vendor, with deep GL and ERP sync.
Worth knowing: Maxio is built from three companies: Chargify, SaaSOptics and RevOps.io. Ask to see a quote amendment flow through to the invoice and the schedule.
Bunny vs Maxio -
4. Stripe Billing
Self-service billing on the payments layer
Best for: Product-led revenue where customers pay a published price by card, and developers want everything in one API.
Where it stops: The same place Recurly does: negotiated contracts. Many teams keep Stripe for self-serve and add Bunny for the sales-led book.
Bunny vs Stripe -
5. Zuora
Enterprise subscription suite
Best for: Large enterprises with dedicated billing and finance systems teams, complex multi-entity needs and the budget for a long implementation.
Where it stops: Enterprise-grade comes with enterprise cost and timeline. Billing, CPQ and Revenue are three purchases and three projects.
Bunny vs Zuora -
6. Paddle
Merchant of record for software
Best for: Self-serve SaaS and apps selling globally that want sales tax, VAT, fraud and payments handled by the merchant of record.
Where it stops: Sales-led contracts. It's a sideways move from Recurly for self-serve, not a step towards a deal desk.
-
7. HubSpot Revenue Hub
CPQ and billing inside the CRM (formerly Commerce Hub)
Best for: Teams fully standardised on HubSpot that want quotes, contracts, e-signature and recurring billing inside the CRM.
Where it stops: Usage-based pricing and revenue recognition aren't part of the pitch, so a SaaS finance team will still need a billing system of record behind it.
Bunny vs HubSpot
Keep the self-serve engine.
Add the deal desk.
Bunny runs product-led and sales-led revenue on one platform. A customer can start on a self-serve plan and move to a negotiated, invoiced contract in a few clicks — without a separate CPQ, e-signature tool and spreadsheet bolted on.
Bunny CPQ quotes from the live subscription, Bunny billing invoices exactly what was signed, and Bunny RevOps reads the same records to tell you what’s renewing, what’s at risk and where the next upsell is.
Quotes, approvals and signatures built in
New business, upsells, renewals and renewal adjustments. Custom pricing and ramps, document templates, automated approval workflows, Bunny e-signature or DocuSign, PandaDoc and Dropbox Sign. See Bunny CPQ.
Contract billing that matches the contract
The signed quote becomes the subscription. Recurring and usage charges share one invoice, price changes can be scheduled ahead, and dunning workflows chase what’s overdue. Multi-entity, multi-currency and revenue recognition sit in Advanced Billing. Usage-based billing.
RevOps your CRM can’t see
ARR, NRR, GRR, churn, collections and renewals in one place, plus a RevOps Agent that reads contracts, drafts quotes and updates renewals in Bunny, Slack or any MCP client. Meet the RevOps Agent.
What does moving off Recurly involve?
Less than you’d think, because you don’t have to move it all at once. Bunny’s team runs the migration with you.
-
Step 1
Decide which book moves first
Most teams start with the sales-led contracts, where Recurly hurts most, and leave high-volume self-serve plans where they are until the new quote-to-renewal loop is proven.
-
Step 2
Rebuild plans as a real catalog
Map Recurly plans and add-ons onto Bunny products, plans and price lists. Customer-specific deals become subscription-level pricing, not more plans.
-
Step 3
Import accounts, subscriptions and payment methods
By CSV template or API: accounts, contacts, subscription terms, pricing and payment methods, plus history such as cancelled subscriptions, invoices, credit notes and MRR per account.
-
Step 4
Rehearse, then cut over
Migration mode holds outbound emails while you reconcile. Imported subscriptions keep their real start dates, and Bunny issues the next invoice when the current period ends.
Compare Bunny with other billing platforms
Weighing up more than one option? Here is how Bunny stacks up against the other platforms B2B SaaS teams shortlist most often.
- Bunny vs Chargebee A broad subscription suite. Bunny is built around the negotiated deal.
- Bunny vs HubSpot A powerful CRM that stops short of being a billing system.
- Bunny vs Maxio Capable, but assembled from SaaSOptics, Chargify and RevOps.io rather than built as one platform.
- Bunny vs Recurly Built for consumer subscriptions rather than sales-led B2B deals.
- Bunny vs Stripe Excellent for self-service checkout, thin on complex B2B pricing.
- Bunny vs Zuora Enterprise-grade, with the cost and 6–12 month implementation to match.
