How to manage subscriptions and billing from ChatGPT or Claude
Add Bunny as a custom connector in Claude or ChatGPT using one URL, https://auth.bunny.com/api/mcp, and sign in to Bunny to approve access. The assistant can then answer questions about invoices, overdue balances, MRR and renewals from live data, preview an account's next invoice, and change subscriptions by drafting quotes that only take effect when you apply them. It works with your own Bunny permissions, nothing more.
Before you start
- A Bunny user account. The assistant sees and does only what your Bunny role allows.
- Claude: a plan that supports custom connectors or plugins. ChatGPT: a workspace with developer mode for custom connectors, or an admin who can import the Bunny plugin.
How to do it in Claude or ChatGPT
-
1
Add the Bunny connector
In Claude, go to Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector. In ChatGPT, turn on Developer mode under Settings > Apps & Connectors > Advanced settings, then add a connector. Either way, enter
https://auth.bunny.com/api/mcp. It's the same URL for every Bunny customer, and there's no client ID or secret to copy. -
2
Sign in to Bunny and approve the scopes
The assistant sends you to Bunny to log in and shows what it's asking for. Approve, and the token it receives is tied to your user and your account. To also give the assistant Bunny's skills (guidance on which tool to use when), install the Bunny plugin from
github.com/bunnyapp/skillsinstead; it includes the same connector. -
3
Ask about invoices and revenue
Ask in plain language: "Which customers have invoices more than 90 days overdue?", "What's our MRR by currency?", "Which renewals in the next 90 days haven't had a quote sent?" These answers come from read-only tools and context resources (AR aging, at-risk accounts, upcoming renewals) and never change data. Large result sets come back as a CSV download link.
-
4
Preview before anything bills
Ask "What will Acme be invoiced next month?" Bunny calculates every line item, tax and total without creating an invoice. Ask for a link and the assistant returns a direct URL to the invoice, quote or subscription in Bunny.
-
5
Change a subscription through a draft quote
Ask for the change: "Add 25 seats to Acme's Enterprise plan from next month" or "Give Acme 20% off their subscription." Commercial terms such as price, quantity, discount and dates can't be edited in place, so the assistant composes a draft quote. Review it, and the change takes effect (with schedules and invoices generated) only when the quote is applied.
-
6
Revoke access when you're done
Every connected AI client is listed under Settings > Developers > Connections in Bunny. Open one and click Revoke access to cut it off.
Worked example: adding seats in one conversation
Acme is on the Enterprise plan at 100 seats, $40 per seat per month, billed annually on a term that renews January 1. On April 1 their admin asks for 25 more seats. Here’s the exchange in Claude with the Bunny connector:
You: Acme wants 25 more Enterprise seats starting April 1. Set it up.
Claude: Acme Corp has one active Enterprise subscription at 100 seats, renewing January 1. I’ve drafted an update quote that sets the quantity to 125 seats from April 1, co-termed to January 1. The prorated charge for the 25 added seats over the remaining nine months is $9,000. The quote is a draft, so nothing has been billed. Here’s the link to review it in Bunny.
You: Looks right. Apply it.
Claude: Applied. The subscription is now 125 seats, and Bunny generated a $9,000 invoice for the added seats, due on Acme’s Net 30 terms.
Two details worth noticing. First, the quantity is the new total (125), not “+25”, which is how Bunny avoids double-counting seats when a request gets repeated. Second, the money only moved at “Apply it”: until then, the quote was a draft you could change or abandon.
The same chat can follow up with “Who else on Enterprise is above 100 seats?” or “What does Acme’s renewal look like at 125 seats?” without leaving the conversation.
