How-to guide

How to quote and bill a multi-year ramp deal with annual price uplifts

Split the contract into yearly intervals, give each interval its own quantity and unit price with the uplift built in, and bill each year at that year's numbers. In Bunny you create the plan on the quote as a ramp deal, set the quantity and price per interval, and apply the signed quote. Bunny then invoices every period at the right quantity and price for the whole term.

Before you start

  • The ramped product is a plan whose price list has a single recurring charge, such as a per-seat platform fee.
  • You've agreed the term, the per-year quantities and the uplift, for example 3 years with 7% a year.

How to set up a ramp deal in Bunny

  1. 1

Set the term on the quote first

In the quote builder, set the Effective date and the Subscription end date for the whole contract. Bunny suggests 1 to 5 year end dates. Ramp intervals run from the start date to the end date, so set the end date before you create the ramp.

  2. 2

Add the plan as a ramp deal

Click Add product, choose the product, plan and price list, and tick Create as ramp deal. Pick the Interval (12 months for yearly steps) and enter the quantity for each interval.

  3. 3

Build the uplift into each year's price

Each interval becomes its own line on the quote, tagged Ramp. Edit the unit price per interval to apply the uplift: year 2 at the year 1 price plus 7%, year 3 at year 2 plus 7%. You can also set a discount or total per line, so a heavy year 1 discount can step down over the term.

  4. 4

Decide what happens after the term

In Renewal settings, choose whether the subscription is Evergreen, the renewal term, and a price adjustment: Adjust a percentage (say 5%) or Copy from catalog. Price adjustments apply when the subscription renews.

  5. 5

    Get approval and signature

Approval rules can trigger on The quote contains a ramp, so finance sees every ramp before the customer does. Share the quote for acceptance or e-signature with Bunny Sign, Docusign, Dropbox Sign or PandaDoc.

  6. 6

Apply the quote and let billing run

Applying creates one subscription carrying every interval. Bunny bills each period at that interval's quantity and price, and the Invoice until setting lets you bill more up front if the customer prepays.

Worked example: a three-year ramp with 7% uplifts

Contoso signs a three-year contract from November 1, 2026 to October 31, 2029 for the Platform plan, billed annually. Seats ramp as they roll out, and the price rises 7% a year.

The rep sets the end date to October 31, 2029, adds Platform with Create as ramp deal ticked, picks a 12-month interval, and enters the seats per year. Then they set each interval’s unit price:

Interval Dates Seats Price per seat Annual invoice
Year 1 Nov 1, 2026 to Oct 31, 2027 100 $480.00 $48,000
Year 2 Nov 1, 2027 to Oct 31, 2028 150 $513.60 $77,040
Year 3 Nov 1, 2028 to Oct 31, 2029 200 $549.55 $109,910

Total contract value: $234,950.

Under Renewal settings the rep leaves the subscription evergreen with a 1-year renewal term and a 5% price adjustment.

Contoso signs, the quote is applied, and Bunny invoices $48,000 on November 1, 2026. The next two invoices, $77,040 and $109,910, go out on November 1 of each following year with no one touching the subscription. When the contract renews in November 2029, the renewal picks up from year 3’s 200 seats and applies the 5% adjustment.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a ramp deal in Bunny?
A subscription split into intervals (1 month or any multiple of 3 months) from the start date to the end date, each with its own quantity and price. It's one quote, one signature and one subscription, not three separate contracts.
How do I add a 7% annual uplift inside a three-year contract?
Use a ramp with 12-month intervals and set each year's unit price on its interval line. The uplift is written into the contract the customer signs, and each annual invoice uses that year's price.
How is a price adjustment different from a ramp uplift?
A ramp sets prices for each year inside the term. A price adjustment in Renewal settings raises prices by a percentage, or to the latest catalog price, when the subscription renews. Most multi-year deals use both.
Can the quantity change every year as well as the price?
Yes. Enter a quantity per interval when you create the ramp (100, 150, 200 seats, for example) and edit quantity and price per line in the quote builder. Flat-priced charges ramp by price only.
Can the customer prepay the whole contract?
Yes. Move the quote's Invoice until date out to cover more of the term, and Bunny puts it on the first invoice instead of billing year by year.
